A tribute to the Black Panther
This piece was both a challenge and a joy to create—one of those works that starts off feeling simple but slowly reveals its complexity. I initially underestimated it, but as the process unfolded, I found myself completely immersed. What makes this piece so powerful isn't just the subject—it’s how the subject had to be revealed.
Unlike most paintings, where form is created by adding, this one came alive by holding back. The background is black, so instead of painting the shapes in, I had to create them by leaving space untouched—letting absence shape the form. Had the background been white with black forms, this would’ve been a much easier piece. But the inverted concept pushed me further as an artist and made the final result feel earned.
At the heart of this painting is the spirit of the Black Panther—a figure that represented strength, pride, and power for so many, both inside and outside of the culture. The suggested logo in the background doesn't shout—it glows. It stands out not just because of what it is, but because of how it’s revealed. That quiet intensity mirrors the film's legacy: unapologetically Black, deeply intentional, and universally inspiring.
This piece is a study in contrast—light within shadow, restraint creating form, and simplicity becoming depth.
